Get Involved

Come as you are; and join us as we learn to live out the words and works of Jesus

Reasons to Get Involved

God is here, by His Spirit, and longing to bless you.

Abundant life is being experienced among us, even though we have no idea of how abundant Abudant Life can be.

You will be accepted where you are at, for who you are.

You certainly won’t be ignored or not get noticed.

There are people at our church who desire friendship and want to meet you.

Nagging insecurities and skeletons in the closet can be identified and released.

Jesus’ truth in ourselves sets us free; Satan’s power is in deceit.

Two preachers at the same time make for easy-listening.
This is not a gimmick; it is because the way that God is leading us is discovered together; therefore it makes sense to preach together.

What we are experiencing is God’s idea for the Church, not ours.

The sky’s-the-limit in terms of how much you want to participate.

Obstacles You May Face

There’s not a large crowd, you will be noticed.

The furniture doesn’t match, there are no rows to sit in and the carpet sucks.

Kids are welcome to be kids; so it can be noisy during worship times and prayer times as they learn how to be part of a church family gathering.

There’s a coffee break in the middle of church!

The sermons challenge us to go deeper; most problems need more than 3-easy steps.
And there's not just one speaker, there's two!

You might get asked to be prayed for.

There’s a potluck once a month...Awkward!

Downtown location. A great diversity of people wander in.

There are people at our church who, out of their own brokenness, are relationally hurting and scared. You might mistake their woundedness for rejection.

Rather than perpetuating a typically narrow “Evangelical” mindset; we encourage critical thinking and relational discussion, as we seek God’s justice and our participation in promoting wholeness for our surrounding world.

Examples:
Political ideologies
Israel and Palestine
Social Justice
Poverty
Addictions
Relating to the GLBT Community

If you are used to finding your place by getting involved in a program, finding a place in relationship feels more vulnerable because connecting through relationship isn't easily structured.
But we're trusting that the Holy Spirit places each person in the Body as He sees fit.

We’ve been trained to turn to externals in order to feel better...

Examples:
Reputation
Materialism
Pleasure-seeking
Escapism
Position or Title
Busyness, being program-oriented
Borrowed intimacy – feeling important by being part of the crowd

...But these actually head us in the wrong direction by covering up or deflecting our personal brokenness, which God wants us to see so we can experience Abundant Life.

Our church is learning to look within.
