A Misunderstanding of Sin
Sin is not simply moral failure. It is the decision to try to make life work on our own, regardless of morality.
John 5:39-40
You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.
The technical word for "sin" is an archery term, meaning "missing the mark."
Since God's plan for the Church is to experience His fullness together (see Ephesians, esp. chapter 3), even an individual attempt to live life with God, apart from other Christians, is missing the mark.
Once again, our traditional "Evangelical" approach points us in the wrong direction by telling us that a mature Christian is one who can stand on one's own two feet. Needing others is perceived as weakness.
